Invest in a Nurse (dot.com) is a newborn organization to help student nurses make ends meet and get through their degree requirements. Some of us don't qualify for scholarships, because of the nontraditional nature of our programs, or because we don't appear poor enough on paper. But this is real life, and in real life we have books, uniforms, babysitters, rent or mortgages, groceries and a car that might not always run well.
Invest in a Nurse allows the common do-gooder to do some good. All those friends of yours who would love to help but know that your needs are way over their heads -- they might have a dollar or two. Spreading the word on and offline will reach people who will believe in this cause. I've already found one business willing to contribute for purchases from people who mention us, and they have already provided a link back. If we get the word out far enough, caring individuals all over could invest in a nurse.
If selected, you will have a feature page for a week, and be included on the site for 8 weeks. There will be a new featured nursing student each week. Invest in a Nurse (dot.com) will take 8% of the first $1000 in donations and then 0% (nothing, nada, zip). Just enough to cover overhead expenses and growth.
To qualify you need to:
1. Be attending or accepted into an RN program.
2. Be truly in need
To participate you need:
1. A paypal account
2. To agree to pay it forward, when you become employed as an RN.
3. Verification of acceptance into a program, or some other proof that you are a nursing student (most recent grade report, a letter from the school).
